# Google Meet notes turned into tasks

> Turn a Google Meet into tasks only if Take notes for me is on an eligible plan, then copy the actions you accept into a private sheet. On 25 October 2026 the US plans page showed Plus at $4.99 a month and Pro at $19.99. The Meet-notes ticks were blank in the saved text. This has not been live-tested.

On 25 October 2026 the Google AI plans page, headed United States, listed Google AI Plus at $4.99 a month with 400 GB and Google AI Pro at $19.99 a month with 5 TB. About £4 and £15 use £1 = $1.33, rounded to the nearest pound. The comparison table had a row named Take notes for me in Google Meet (EN only) and the tick marks were blank in the text we fetched. Meet's help page says the feature needs an eligible Workspace edition or Google AI plan. Do not pay from this paragraph.

GBP figures are a budgeting conversion at £1 = $1.33 and €1 = £0.86, rounded to the nearest pound, fixed for this edition on 24 October 2026. They are not a live rate and not a quote. Vendor list prices are usually quoted before tax.

## Before you start

Book the meeting somewhere else. A [Calendly link](/playbooks/calendly-appointment-booking) or the [Google scheduling guide](/playbooks/chatgpt-meeting-scheduling) is the diary. This page starts when the call does.

If you want a free summary instead of a Google AI plan, use [Fathom](/playbooks/fathom-meeting-notes-to-tasks) and do not run both. A written report for the client, after you have the figures, is the [weekly report](/playbooks/claude-weekly-client-report).

## What you need

- A Google account that can create a Meet link.
- A private sheet with columns for the task, the owner, and the week.
- A sentence you will say before notes start: notes are being taken.

## Step by step

### 1. See whether the control exists before you pay

On a Meet call that is only you, or a colleague who has agreed, look for Take notes for me. Google's help page says the feature needs an eligible Workspace edition or Google AI plan, and that it is available in English among other listed languages. If the control is missing, stop. The Fathom guide is the free-summary alternative. Do not buy a plan to chase a button this page has not seen on a UK account.

### 2. Read the US prices, then the card in your own account

The plans page we opened was labelled United States. Plus showed $4.99 a month and Pro showed $19.99 a month. The same page says only personal Google Accounts can sign up for Google AI plans, and Workspace customers look at a Gemini add-on instead. The Meet-notes row in the comparison table did not show its ticks in the text we fetched. Pay only if your own table marks the feature on the plan you are buying.

### 3. Tell the room, then start notes

The help page says Meet informs participants that notes are being taken and a pencil icon appears. Say it in words as well. If an administrator has required consent, the page describes Start, Join, and Continue. If the other person says no, do not start notes. Host controls, when on, limit who can start and stop them.

### 4. Keep the document off the open guest list

Sharing options on the help page include all invited guests, including people outside your organisation, guests in your organisation, or hosts and co-hosts only. For a client call, hosts only is the narrow setting. Invited guests means people on the calendar invite, not only people who attended. A group address does not give each member the document. Do not leave the doc as anyone with the link.

### 5. Copy accepted actions into your sheet

After the meeting, the help page says a document is saved in the organiser's Drive, in a Google Meet folder, and that the Quick notes tab includes action items. Copy only the actions you accept into your private sheet: the task, the owner, and the week. The help page also says a summary can be incomplete or inaccurate. Delete a price or a date nobody agreed. Do not paste the whole document into a second chatbot.

### 6. Send the tasks in your own email

Write the short list in the follow-up you were going to send anyway. Do not attach the notes document to a client who was not meant to have it. If you wanted a free notetaker instead, the Fathom playbook copies a summary and you write the tasks. Do not run both on the same call.

## What can go wrong

### Buying Plus because this page mentioned $4.99

That figure is the US card on 25 October 2026. It is not proof the plan includes Meet notes, and it is not a UK price. The tick marks were blank in our copy of the table.

### Sharing notes with every invited guest

The widest setting includes people outside the organisation. A client call does not need that. Pick the narrow option or do not take notes.

### Treating next steps as a contract

The help page lists a next-steps section and says notes can be incomplete. You still decide what you promised.

## UK notes

### Costs, including VAT

About £4 is $4.99 divided by 1.33 and rounded to the nearest pound. About £15 is the same conversion of $19.99. The rate was fixed on 24 October 2026 for planning. It is not a quote, the page was the United States view, and VAT may be extra. Workspace pricing was not copied. If the feature is already on your account, the marginal cost of this guide is £0.

### Data flow

A meeting note can name a client, a fee, and a health or family detail if the conversation went there. The document is stored in the organiser's Google Drive. Sharing it is a disclosure. UK GDPR needs a reason you can explain, and the other person should know notes are on before they speak. Do not drop the document into a separate chat to tidy it. That is a second processor.

### HMRC and Making Tax Digital

A Google AI plan bought for the business is a cost to discuss with your accountant. The notes document is not an invoice and it does not file a Making Tax Digital update. If the call agreed a fee, invoice it the way you already invoice. A task row in a sheet is not the sale.

This is practical orientation, not tax, legal, or accounting advice.

- 25 October 2026 — pending. Pending first test. The steps were compiled from Google Meet help and the US AI plans page. They have not been run on a live call.

## Questions

### What if I do not want to pay Google?

Use the Fathom guide. Its free plan, on the pricing page we read, includes a summary, and you write the tasks. Do not buy a Google plan solely from the prices on this page.

### Does Plus include Take notes for me?

The plans page has a row with that name. The ticks were blank in the text saved on 25 October 2026. Open the table on your account and read the column before you pay.

### Can I record a client without saying so?

No. Meet shows a pencil icon, and you should also say it. If they refuse, stop. A surprise notes document is not a setup this page recommends.
