Meeting notes become useful when they turn into tasks a person will do. Fathom can record a call and summarise it on the free plan. Google Meet can take notes only on an eligible plan, and you still copy the actions you accept. Neither guide has been live-tested.
For consultants, coaches, and small agencies who leave a call with a vague sense of what was agreed. The recording is not the task list. You write the tasks.

Turn a Google Meet into tasks only if Take notes for me is on an eligible plan, then copy the actions you accept into a private sheet. On 25 October 2026 the US plans page showed Plus at $4.99 a month and Pro at $19.99. The Meet-notes ticks were blank in the saved text. This has not been live-tested.

On 25 October 2026, AI action items were a Premium feature, not part of Free. You still check any list a paid plan writes. This page has not been live-tested.
Questions
Do I have to tell the other person?
Yes. Say a notetaker is in the call before it starts recording. If they say no, turn it off. A surprise transcript is a poor way to keep a client.
Can I publish the transcript?
No. The playbook copies a summary into a private sheet. A transcript of a client call is not a blog post and it is not a social update.
Are the AI action items the list?
Only after you read them. On the free plan the pricing page we checked did not include AI action items. You write the tasks from the summary yourself.
